Here’s something I think a lot of people need to hear after a breakup. Stop auditioning for someone who already decided they didn’t want the role you were offering them. Because after rejection, we do this strange thing. We start trying to prove our value to the very person who rejected us. We post things hoping they’ll notice. We work on ourselves hoping they’ll regret leaving. We rehearse conversations in our head where we finally say the perfect thing and suddenly they realize what they lost. But here’s the problem. The moment your healing becomes about getting a reaction from them, they’re still controlling your life. Real healing begins when you stop asking, “How do I make them see my value?” and start asking, “Why did I ever believe their inability to value me determined what I was worth?” You don’t need to convince somebody they made a mistake. Build a life so good that whether they ever realize what they lost becomes completely irrelevant. That’s not revenge. That’s freedom.
