The Great Rancho Grande Race! And they’re off! It’s another beautiful day at Rancho Grande, and the dogs have decided it’s time for a race. But wait a minute, who’s that running right alongside them? It’s Rodolfo, our alpaca! And judging by those legs flying through the air, nobody told him that alpacas aren’t supposed to race dogs. He’s giving them a run for their money! Rodolfo has a special story. He lost his mother during childbirth, so we raised him ourselves. As a result, he’s never been quite like the other alpacas. He’s grown up surrounded by people, dogs, and all the other characters who call Rancho Grande home. I’m not entirely sure Rodolfo knows he’s an alpaca, and frankly, I don’t think he cares. Watching him race across the ranch with his canine friends, running as fast as those long legs will carry him, is one of those moments that reminds us why we love living here. Nobody’s chasing anybody. Nobody’s trying to win a trophy. They’re just animals enjoying being alive, having a wonderful time together. Rodolfo may have had a difficult beginning, but he’s got a pretty wonderful life ahead of him. He’ll spend the rest of his days here at Rancho Grande, surrounded by his unusual family and all the friends a little alpaca could ever want. And if he happens to win a few races along the way, even better. At Rancho Grande, you don’t have to be the same species to be best friends. ❤️ .#ranchograndeojai #farmlife #onthisday
