I used to work at child maintenance and in my opinion I’d request it to be backdated the full 8 months because you are due that money there’s no right or wrong about it, by the child maintenance rules you and your son are owed that money child maintenance isn’t supposed to pick mum or dad they always support the children so I’d request it to be back dated the full 8 months

My dad rang me a few months before my 18th birthday to remind me to tell my mum that the child maintenance was going to stop. He also had to double check with me when my birthday was 🙃

Does anyone know what happens when you aren’t getting the CM? It’s already on collect and pay and I’ve never received anything from it

even if I was a millionaire I would still take childmaintance because why should it just be down to us ? my sons dad has seen him twice between 4 weeks and 6 weeks, hasnt bothered since my son is 9 months his family see my son but he doesnt 😂 my daughters dad is great, I pay for all clothes, food, shoes, everything and anything she needs. ❤️

not unreasonable but how did child maintenance not want an updated court order to say the child hasn't been staying for past 8 months. currently that's what they've said to me they wanted a new court order

apologies if this comes across wrong, & please do not judge anybody... i was just hoping for some advice... i am a single mother on benefits currently, but if i was to claim CM for my daughter, would they deduct anything from my current benefit allowance? or would the CM just be extra? i have never claimed so im completely unsure 🤷🏻♀️

My mam use to only get £5 a month for my 2 younger brothers. This wasn't the full amount she was suppose to get from CM. She took him to court and he's now on collect and pay and was also ordered to pay the back pay to her which is a canny amount.

my ex just randomly stopped paying so went though CMS and they make him pay more on collect and pay and B4 to 1st payment was even made they got a deduction from earnings order in place so his employer sends the money B4 he gets his wages
