Correct me if I'm wrong, but awaken/consciousness is not the equivalent of spirit connection. Awaken is the knowing, the mindful exploration of consciousness/metaphysics with or without reaching out to ancestors/spirits/ gods / archetypes/ angels/ demons/ universe, etc.
