I agreed with all ur saying except for the “selfish part” I do understand what you mean but I think it’s very flat to just say that the things she did (like her wish for example) was “selfish” when it had many meanings behind it than just being selfish. All I’m saying is that labeling her or her actions as selfish and not in a spectrum of “morally gray” flattens ur analysis, but other than that I think this was a good analysis. Good job

Your reading of Homura wish as a desire to be stronger fits with my personal theory that Homura purposely misunderstood Madoka's dying wish. Going by the English dub, Madoka asks Homura to stop her being from being a fool and being tricked by Kyubey. From Homura's side, we are meant to assume that Madoka wants Homura to stop her from making a wish. But if we take what we know of Madoka, then it's safe to assume Madoka meant for Homura to warn her about Kyuney so she could craft a wish that could help everyone. But considering that would require for Homura to allow Madoka to help her and making Homura seem weak, that idea does not even cross Homura's mind.

As someone who genuinely loves this show with all my heart I like you analysis but I disagree on some points.
1. For your first few slides I like the points you made, and id like to add on. In the Rebellion movie we can see homura kneeling next to madoka, practically crying. While shes doing this madoka is braiding her hair back to her beginning hair style. Upon standing up thr braid is automatically undone, normally braids are symbolic of innocence, I see this as homuras innocence being far beyond repair, I think this scene in general is a defining point of her character
2.i think your love vs obsession slides are well done. You completely right on the selfishness of fher wish, but I disagree with how you view it. I dont think homura cared much about her weakness at the point of wish. Kyubey targets people in time of panic. Homura says she wants to be the one to protect madoka this time. But truthfully I think that might just be a last just be just a spur of the moment decision. She was panicked afterafll. Another thing, i dont think she meant to keep people in as much as they got locked in upon entering. Its mentioned various times how much of the stuff going around was subconscious. If you read wraith arc, its very unbelievable to think homura before her mindset in rebellion would even think of talking to madoka. You think show homura idolized madoka. Holy shit wrath arc homura is the peak of that. Its by far her worst state. I also dont fully understand what you mean in your last love versus obsession slide. Homura had a poin in wraith arc where she debates with herself as to what madoka meant to her. She starts if saying shes perfect, this guiding light that saved her. But she slowly starts saying no to that. That maybe the point behind madoka was that she was just a normal girl. Able to live and see her family. Imagine being a god, a 14 year old God and never getting to see your family. This symbol of hope is 14 just like homura. You saying providing madoka with optimal circumstances is obsession feels kinda odd. Very much i think the actions homura takes are that of love. Taking madoka out of the sky was a sin true, continued in comments
