This is such rubbish. Business should pay properly. Price the meals properly to pay a good wage. Then if there is a tip of 10% or so then that's a bonus. This tipping culture is getting out of hand

Many restaurants in my city use robot waiters. Unionize or be replaced by robots but stop guilt tripping people into paying your wage instead of the business you work for. also most places expect a tip on take orders to.

don’t run a restaurant if you can’t afford to pay your employees, someone who serves me food is not my employee I create no contract with a server to serve me food so they don’t work for me they work for the restaurant owner and they should be paying them to do their job

It’s not the tipping that is the issues it’s the expected percentages…Scenario 1: I buy a $5 salad and have a free glass of water and THEY carry it from the kitchen to the table and I pay you 20% ($1), Scenario 2: I buy a $50 steak with a $10 beer and THEY carry it from the kitchen to the table and I have to pay you 20% ($12)…why do I have to base my tip on the price of what I’m spending, when THEY did the same amount of labour🤣 I’m expected to give them an extra $11 because I spent more???

The purpose of going out is to support a business? I've been doing it wrong my entire life, I thought it was to grab some food and maybe spend some time with friends. How selfish of me.

U.K. 🇬🇧 we do not tip and if we do staff on the most grateful because it’s not for the consumer to pay for the staff it’s for the employer to pay their staff inappropriate wage👏

I don't mind tipping if the service is good, but a lot of times the service is not very good, and there's no way in hell I'm going to just automatically apply a tip. the whole point of going out is that we get a better experience, that we don't have to refill our own drinks, that somebody waits on us and checks on us, offering to elevate the experience. but if the waiter or waitress is not attentive, and you sit there with empty drinks, or you have to like go out of your way to flag somebody down to give you the check or give you a to go box, then they don't deserve a tip.
