Yes let’s spend £100 on a ticket but we can’t take a photo to keep our memories

Thing about creating art is, you don't get to choose how others consume it.

Many theatres encourage it during the curtain call. It promotes the show if people end up post about it on social media. But absolutely not during the show.

they've sat through the whole show - I don't think taking a picture during the bows suggests they can't 'let it live in their souls for five mins'

i see her point but theatre must adapt to be passed down to younger generations and it feels a small price to pay. during the performance is definitely a no but once it’s over, why not?

Why would it be insulting? They clearly liked the performance so much they either want to share or remember it with a quick snapshot. I don't think there's anything wrong with it when done swiftly during bows.

I don’t take curtain call photos to prove I was there to anyone including myself. I take it because I loved the performance and I want a memory of it for the future days when my memory may fail me.

Because tickets to theatre on Broadway are INSANELY expensive and people might want a memory of one of the only times they could go and expeirnce that

‘Clap or don’t clap’ be so for real - as IF she’d be less offended by someone not clapping than by someone trying to capture the curtain call

Alternative viewpoint... theatre hasn't been accessible to everyone, so many more people have expanded their personal "circle" of existence and maybe won't get another chance to see live theater. I get her point, I just think there are other reasons. So many people are visual learners.. it is a keepsake.

The irony of the fact national theatre performances are filmed and viewed all over the world in cinemas. That fine but god forbid theatre goers take a single picture at the end of a performance

Get with the times … at the end is ok, people are paying respect and posting the pics on sociable media … aka PROMOTING for you 💕 I don’t do it but I can see why people do. Theatre is struggling and it needs all the help it can get.

Waiting to take a photo or video at curtain call is very respectful. It’s better than recording with a flash during the performance
