@sothebys: Today we’re on the River Seine with Sotheby’s Etienne Hellman searching for the very spots where Monet painted two Impressionist masterpieces. Hellman visits the landscapes Monet captured in ‘Les Îles de Port-Villez,’ and ‘Vétheuil, effet du matin,’ two paintings seen for the first time in nearly a century. Together, the rediscovered landscapes act as a map of Monet’s journey along the Seine, from the moment he first visited Giverny in 1883 to the mature explorations of light and atmosphere that defined his work at the turn of the 20th century. The paintings will soon star in the Modern & Contemporary Art auction at #SothebysParis on 16 April.
