bro PLEASE do not try restoring it by yourself. you'd be better off leaving it as is or taking it to somebody. im not even hating, just being realistic. youre more likely to damage it by attempting to fix it yourself.

hi! i see a lot of your responses to people about the possibility of handing this to a mueseum, and how you are worried about it going into a drawer. it is a fantastic find, and it is true that artifacts sometimes end up in archives for a long time when not on view. however, to offer my perspective as someone who interns in archival work, this piece of history would likely last much longer in the hands of professional restorers and archive workers. mueseums are not villans nor government trying to take ur shit, it would guarentee that this sword is seen by generations to come and provide important information about the period of history it came from. if you are finding a ton of these in one spot, it could also possibly indicate that it is of archeological significance and could even be an ancient burial site. for the sake of all things good, do not be selfish about this find.

As someone who studies ASNC at Cambridge you really should be reporting these finds and handing them over to museums, like these artefacts in these sites can reveal new things about the past, and professional restorers would do a lot better work with this sword

Hihi archeologist here, just a tip do not use water to clean of metal swords its usually the best to get it to a specialist because water can cause more corrosion over time leaving it more brittle

do not "restore" it, do not clean it, best way is to wrap it in a wet towell, so it wont dry out too quickly. take it to the museum, local archeologist; or sth like that, report the location as well.

Don’t restore it yourself, you could be ruining an important piece of history. Let professionals deal with it.

You shouldn’t clean it with the regular water cause it makes it even more rusty it’s better to use destilated water:)

How’s it still in good condition? I thought it would be degraded because it’s very old.
