I always thought of Rumple always choosing power was a metaphor for addiction. he truly does love Belle more than the powers but he's addicted to the feeling and strength of being The Dark One even if he knows it'll ruin his life will Belle everytime

What annoyed me is there’s a way it could have worked. They were so close to it, too. “Evil is made, not born.” They could have made evil a byproduct of the magic, and focused more on having them reflect on their experiences of “normal humanity” while under the curse as they realize how they feel after magic came back

I guess if a character gets redeemed despite not actually wanting to be redeemed it is a sort of ironic punishment. No idea how it works, but why ruin it with logic

and what fries me about this whole show is the fact that the longer it went on, the stupider rumple looked since it had to take an entire dark curse to get to our world, and everybody just found more and more ways to travel worlds all willy nilly 😭
