@golf_manual: How The Masters Makes Money (And Why It’s So Different) ⛳️💸 The Masters turns down $270 million a year… and that’s exactly why it’s the best major. While most tournaments chase every dollar they can, Augusta does the opposite. The US Open makes around $93 million just from selling its domestic TV rights. But The Masters? They make nothing from it. Augusta gives up the money… to keep control of the product. Broadcasts feature just six hand-picked sponsors, with only four minutes of ads per hour. And that revenue? It doesn’t even go to profit — it just covers production. No billboards. No logos on hats. No ads on tee boxes. Because let’s be honest… It wouldn’t hit the same if Amen Corner became the American Express Corner. Then there’s ticket prices. A four-day pass costs just $475… if you somehow win the Masters lottery. But on the resale market? They go for over $10,000. And Augusta sees none of that money — by choice. Keeping prices low builds the mystique… and the resale frenzy makes the event feel even more exclusive. So how do they make money? Merchandise. Augusta pulls in around $80 million a year from merch alone. Add roughly $40 million from tickets, $25 million from international TV rights, and $8 million from concessions… …and suddenly, it’s not so low-key after all. So no — The Masters isn’t a charity. They just don’t maximise revenue like everyone else. Because at Augusta… exclusivity is the business model. #TheMasters #themasters2026 #golf #golfmanual #golf_manual

Now time to get rid of the influencers, comedians and other ex athlete side shows. The Masters is above that. Leave the Tradition alone

They don’t pay a water bill for irrigation and put that cost on local residents. Masters is definitely not a charity and makes money by staying private with tax cuts

If they make so much money, why not open it free to the public so working folks can attend?

No, it WAS the best until 2026. Total sell-out with badges to select groups and celebrity antics. It did take a long time to sell-out, but it is still so very disappointing.
