When we had our kids we were earning decent salaries, had a mortgage and cars. We were very comfortable. We were both made redundant and lost everything within a year of my youngest being born. We ended up on benefits and took 10yrs to get back to where we were. What should we have done when we lost everything? Given our kids up for adoption? Guess what.... Life happens.

Agreed. Parents needs to be able to provide for their children. Relying on the government is a bad decision. Rules and laws can change very fast. Crisis. disasters and war is also factors to have in mind. As a parent i preper for the worst and hope for the best.

I disagree I don’t agree with the idea that people who are poor shouldn’t have children. People come from all kinds of backgrounds and circumstances, and financial situations can change for reasons beyond someone’s control. The ability to love, care for, and raise a child isn’t defined solely by income. Suggesting that only those with money deserve to have children turns parenthood into a privilege reserved for the wealthy, rather than something deeply human. Instead of judging individuals, we should also look at the wider systems that make raising children so expensive in the first place.

100% agree, my 4 year old nephew has better social life than me, swimming lessons, rugby club, skateboard club, play dates, birthday parties, child care. It’s small fortune, that’s not even covering the day to day stuff to keep him alive!
