I work in the automotive industry and am researching EV’s for a project, and their battery tech is so much better. Also China are about to introduce the strictest safety standards for electric car batteries in the world, which Chinese manufacturers have been working towards for a while. This effectively makes battery fires a non-issue to passenger safety. Will put “traditional” car companies under serious pressure to keep up.

BYD just announced a partnership with KFC’s in China (they have 3x KFC’s than USA) to install battery swapping infrastructure in their drive through lines! We cooked over here and don’t even know it

It's whoever gets to swappable batteries and supporting infrastructure the fastest. LG is already doing it for fork trucks. I've owned a couple EVs and PHEVs and they're fabulous. Change is coming, not even trumps shitty regulations is going to slow demand if the price points get there

I guess bc 47 was paying companies to abandon renewables I would assume a Vance admin would do the same. So if the time horizon is ten plus then everything you said makes total sense

I do feel US automakers are struggling right now because people cant afford 80-90k cars. cars are just sitting and not many people are wanting high payments.

We will all need to see innovation around how to dispose of/ recycle the cars and batteries after they wrap up their life. I could see whole businesses being created for aftermarket.
