note to self, check to see if a 5v wire shares with any other components, I will use this knowledge

Good shit. I had the exact same issue on a bluebird school bus, no throttle but it was the coolant level sensor shorting the 5v reference to ground. Easy fix

good shit man. had similar on a GMC topkick ambulance. 5vRef wire rubbed on the airbox support under the hood. was taking out random sensors and communication bus all over. dealer shotgunned all kinds of parts. took me a while to find, but I eventually found it and fixed it. been great for over a year now

Whatever :
I just did pretty much the exact same thing on a 2016 ram 3500 but the throttle would full blast instead of your problem the issue was the DPF soot load sensor was grounding out. I later found out that the ac compressor was part of the same circuit and was also not working. Repaired the short and all problems were fixed. But great trouble shooting video

jpro is super helpful however sometimes the OEM diagrams are much better at showing circuits that are shared.

Would you say my comment on the last video would count as the right answer?

Would a bad repair in that dps harness cause extra resistance making the throttle not respond correctly?

Good fix, good find. I had one like that for a bmw x1 no accelerator pedal, turned out it was a shorted oil pressure sensor caused by a water pump repair where the wire was crushed by one of the bolts.
