my partner and I are both engineers who have been "promoted" to project management in the past and got burnt out, threatened to quit (in my case did quit) and been much happier to just go back to doing then things rather than talking about doing the things 😂 we love a PM that keeps stakeholders out of our business 🙏😭🙏

Its not worth doing if there isnt a deadline. If there is a deadline or if talking to people outside of the team is needed Project manager is useful

There's good PMs and bad PMs. I literally just want to let you do your job because that makes my job easier and I hate meetings just as much as you do but I need updates, just give me good updates and answer my questions and we're all happy

An engineer can be project manager (I am), the opposite is just impossible. Honestly my job as PM is much easier than what I was doing as an engineer. To me it’s just crazy we get paid more as PM😂

Project Engineer is not Project Manager, and both have roles that are very important for a company. PM focuses on processes and standardized systems to enable repeatability. Engineering overall is meant to solve, and work on the stuff that needs work. I am both, think of it as, a car could move and work perfectly, but without the steering wheel there is no appropriate direction. In other words, Engineers work the machine as a whole project, PMs see the machine as a part of the process. It's important to understand that people have roles, and if I learned something about my time as an engineer, is that an engineer's ego can be as big as the ease companies have to replace us. And trust me a good PM will highlight an engineer's job, but a bad PM will treat engineers as just one more asset and resource to manage.

But, a good PM is a nuisance but keeps the project on track and in scope, etc. a bad PM is just annoying.

nope not at all, as an engineer I absolutely don't want the job of coordinating timelines and dealing with the customer for payments. let the PM take care of that while I get my work done. it's different jobs bud.
