Best ever is the “French exit” in English to say leaving a party without saying goodbye. And “filer à l’anglaise” in French to say leaving a party without saying goodbye

How is it possible so many people in the comments have never heard anyone say Excuse/pardon my French?! It’s a super common saying… I live in London 😅

e em português dizemos:"à grande e a francesa"quando exageramos e "para o inglês ver" quando algo não serve para nada.

when I was little whenever my family swore around me and said excuse my French, I took it literally and genuinely believed that all the swear words they were saying were infact, French. very interesting first French lesson I had, after my teacher asked if any of us knew any French

In Turkish we sometimes say "Ben Fransız kaldım", which literally means "I stayed French". It is usually used when you‘re not an active part of the conversation and don’t know what’s going on 😭

In Portugal we also say “excuse my French,” but it’s not about swearing, we use it when we’re talking too fast, explaining something badly, or when what we say comes out sounding rude/angry by accident, sometimes it’s even when you realize people didn’t understand what you just said and you’re like… yeah, that didn’t come out right, it’s not as popular nowadays, but some people still use it
