I think a Bartender as the trope for the human analyst who doesnt say a word cos he's transcended personal life can't be a coincidence. Perhaps that's the path for some philosophers. At that level of thought, is money even a driving force for life? Contentment really could be found in pouring glasses. Doesn't sound bad to me

Bartenders can make a lot of money with tips, it's not back breaking labor and you get to spend a lot of time socializing at work so it's really not that bad Plus you're not going to be mentally exhausted every day

The point he's making is that a philosophy degree can't get you a graduate job. Which is actually untrue, philosophy degrees have a 3.2% unemployment rate which is wildly less than say CS at 8% or even Mathematics at 4%.
