My problem is that DCC ruined audiobooks for me forever. Jeff Hayes is incredible. 😂

If you finish reading the DCC books, listen to the DCC audiobooks. Problem solved

He Who Fights with Monsters is my favorite. Lots of excellent Joss Whedon style banter. Sometimes you hate the main character which I found refreshing. The narrator is as good as Jeff Hayes. My only complaint is sometimes the lit RPG elements don't translate real well to the audiobook. Reading a D&D character sheet is sort of boring. it doesn't happen a lot but it does happen.

Also, it’s not a lit rpg either but the “john dies at the end” series by Jason Pargin is in the same vibe

The Bobiverse is an absolutely fantastic series and Ray Porter is my third favorite narrator. If you enjoy the Bobiverse (or sci-fi generally), another excellent recommendation is Expeditionary Force by Craig Alanson (narrated by my favorite - R.C. Bray). There are currently 18 books, so you’ll have reading material for a bit. The books are a little more methodical (each follows a similar arc), but they are interesting and the humor is also very similar. Replace Carl and Donut in the dungeon with Joe Bishop and Skippy (an extraterrestrial smartest AI) in galaxy-at-large.

Just read Discount Dan. It is such a perfect transitional story. It’s close to DCC but different enough to be its own and it’ll let you go to something else. I think Chrysalis is a decent transition and the audio book is narrated by Jeff Hayes then Bobiverse or He who fights with monsters (HWFWH first book is a bit of a grind stick with it the series gets good).

Or you can start re-listening to it for five hours a day starting on April 14 so you’ll finish everything the day before the new book comes out…… not that I have plans or anything

I dnfed We are Bob because the writing wasn't that good. It felt like a first draft that could have been polished better.

Bobiverse is very different energy and humor than DCC. It is fantastic though and definitely recommend. I think DCC fans would love Monster Hunter International.
