I have to thank you, because I saw your video explaining how you need to start emotionally regulating at like a 4-5 rather than waiting til you’re at an 8-9, and I’ve been using that tip for the last 2 days and it has helped SO much. Watching your videos gives me so much hope that I can change.

My dad was a pretty angry guy when my sisters and I were kids and when I was about 16 something happened and he became a completely different person. More kind, patient, gentle. We joke that our own kids know a totally different person in their grandpa but more importantly we all have a much better and more stable/trusting relationship with him now. ❤️❤️❤️

I find I yell because I don't want to get up and take the time to discipline and teach my child in that moment. So when I realize I'm start the pattern of yelling again i try and make the effort to get up, go to my child, get their attention and in a normal but stirn voice explain my expectations to them or decipline them. Being consistent with my children and sticking to the process helps me so much not to yell.

Oh Hey :
Parenting is sooo much easier said than done. You just have to be a “good enough” mom. Some days great. Some moments shitty.

Also apologize and acknowledge the pain you’ve caused. Just changing without acknowledging what you’ve done will leave a hole in them forever…

Omg - saying to show up as the mom you WANT to be has me shook. Like that should be obvious but I hadn’t seen it that way from the trenches!! I want to be a calm mom too - so I have to show up as her. Duh! Thank you!!! 🫶🏻 keep sharing!!

Thank you thank you! The immense comfort you gave me just now melted my heart. I'm in that cycle you mentioned right now. Working hard everyday to heal our relationship. I really have to push myself, to get up early before my kids, set out things the night before, take this job even more seriously. 🥺

I apologize to my kiddo all the time and I express why I’m apologizing. I also tell him he can’t make me angry, it my job to stay calm, sometimes I get frustrated but I’m not angry at you.

Learn to start apologizing for your actions. Apologize, even if you were upset for a good reason. It builds trust with your kids and it builds accountability with yourself. Also, it will curb the behaviour because ain’t nobody love apologizing.

something that helps is whispering when I need my kids to listen. like going under my normal tone to make them go “oh mom is being serious”

Thank you. In the process of healing. Recovering from betrayal trauma while parenting has been the worst experience of my life, and I regret the way I parented. I am slowly rebuilding trust with my kids, but it hasn’t been easy
