🐾 Arya Update 🐾 First I want to say her puppies are JUST fine! They stayed home so they weren’t exposed to any type of sickness! Second, I want to thank everyone who has been following Arya’s journey and keeping her in your thoughts. We had a vet visit yesterday. The vet estimates Arya to be around 1–2 years old and confirmed that she is definitely still a young girl. One thing many people have asked about is mange, but thankfully, Arya does NOT have mange. The hair loss she is experiencing is most likely due to severe malnourishment, stress, and everything her little body has endured. Overall, she looked good! The vet believes she mainly needs good nutrition, time, and lots of love to continue healing. Unfortunately, we also learned that Arya is heartworm positive. We have already started her on doxycycline, which is the first step in her treatment, but we still need donations to continue the heartworm treatment process. Heartworm treatment can be lengthy and expensive, but she deserves every chance at a healthy future. We are planning to begin weaning the puppies so Arya can start focusing on her own recovery. The good news is that the puppies are doing wonderful and are eating puppy food just fine! Watching them grow stronger every day has been such a blessing. Arya will return to the vet in two weeks for another checkup, her rabies vaccine, and any additional care she may need at that time. We will continue to keep everyone updated on her progress. And YES she WILL also be spayed once she’s healthy enough. Thank you all for caring about this sweet mama and her babies.
