You want your children to be independent. Not always under your thumb. Being social and having friends is so important. Consider yourself lucky that your child has friends to make plans with. There has to be a balance.

this is insane, your role as a parent shoukd be to support your children. not critisise them. why arre you dissmissing them, teenagers are people and speaking from experiance, have a range of plans from volunteering, work, social clubs/youth centres, friends. and even if these plans are just to see a friend, why is that so bad?? if your teenager was nothing nothing im sure you would complain that 'gen z have no work ethic and dont wanna do anything'. teenagers (and EVERYONE) need respect, love and support, not to be belittled by their own parents

Yeah my parents were super strict…had to do what I was told and when…they used to say “ when you’re paying your own bill you can do what you want”….and now I haven’t spoken to my parents in 15 years…I felt like anything I said didn’t matter and I was never heard and now I’m no contact
