Never push a piston back without opening the bleeder screw, you're pushing filthy fluid through the ABS motor on up into the master cylinder, and that can be expensive...just saying

I've always done that with my thumbs. You dont risk damaging anything if your only using your hands. Yall just gotta work on your grip strength.

I just use a pry bar on the old brake pads to push them back before I take a single bolt out

Hell, I've got 6 diffent kinds of caliper compressors...

I leave the caliper bolted on and use a screw driver or pry bar to push the caliper in before removing it
