True. I always "felt" masc but too concerned about backlash. I did get backlash when I embraced dressing how I felt 6 years ago. It was the most freeing experience to be authentic inside and out. I've never looked back!

Yes, as a masc/butch presenting woman it feels so easy just to be me. I walk into spaces with no consideration of men, but also zero competition with women, so they are never threatened. I’m not beholden to anyone’s expectations of how I should look or be - except my own.

I think you’re right on with this, and as a masc who came out in the early ‘90s, I can say that I feel like I have more genuine friendships with men, too, because the sexual pressure is off.
