I recommend using a dry and wet vacuum just remove the filter before you use it I have a Milwaukee one is super useful just vacuum all the water out of the toilet and you avoid doing any mess

I usually do a trial run without the wax ring to see if there is any wobble. if so I will shim low spot with pieces of sheet lead until it is sitting solid on the floor.
