@drevanlevine: Aortic stenosis? Healthy and less than 65, even 70 in some cases, be cautious of heart docs who only recommend the less invasive TAVR. Make sure you visit a top aortic surgeon. #heart #aorticstenosis #aorticvalvestenosis #tavr #healthcare
I had conflicting opinions from two surgeons. Chose to have minimally invasive open heart surgery. My

One of our cardiac surgeons said that the fastest growing procedure in cardiac surgery is explantation of TAVR

Just have to ask. Has there been any cardiac doctors who have mechanical aortic valves in them?

Great great advice. When I was told that I had an ascending aortic aneurysm, I thought that minimally invasive was better than SAVR. My cardiologist and cardiothoracic surgeon said no, plainly and bluntly and told me SVR was the way to go. High anxiety to be sure but a better option for long term survival.

I did get a TAVR. But that is because I am older. Nevertheless, standard procedure was to meet with a surgeon and a TAVR expert in conference. But that still wasn’t sufficient for a decision. I then went to the Cath Lab and had numerous other tests before a decision was finally made. That’s what you get in a university hospital setting.

I was 54, my cardiologist recommended TAVR. I had a consultation with a surgeon and he recommended a bovine valve(for a bicuspid). I took his recommendation. After that, I actually had to change cardiologist because I felt like he was upset that I didn’t go with his recommendation.

I live in Poland, here TAVR is very rarely offered to patients under 70 years of age. There have to be strong medical indications, without them, even if someone under 60–65 really wanted it, it would likely be difficult to get.

Is the watchman device just as good as taking Eliquis for my Afib? I’m taking baby aspirin too and I’m worried about internal bleeding. My cardiologist has done at least 300 of these surgeries and he said that they’re just as effective as Eliquis in trials. Thanks. 🙏🏻
