for the past 6 years of building muscle, i’ve never chased getting as lean as possible. i’ll always choose the slow road. i’ve learned so much about my body and what it’s capable of, especially through body recomping. my strength is at an all-time high, my muscle maturity has developed so much, and i’m getting more cut without even getting lean lean 😭 i’ve been sitting around the same weight for years, yet the way that weight has shifted around my body is crazy. and honestly, this is what i wish more people talked about. unless you’re a competitor, i don’t really see the point in constantly pushing to get as lean as possible just to have to spend months bringing your body back to baseline. i’d rather continue building, replenishing, recovering, and slowly chipping away at body fat while still supporting my performance, hormones, and overall health. maybe it takes longer, but it also feels like i’m moving forward the entire time instead of taking two steps back every time i reach a new low. in this generation of gym influencers, it feels like all anyone cares about is how lean and peeled they can get as fast as possible. meanwhile, some of the best physiques are built through years of consistency, not a few months of suffering. i’d rather focus on what i’m building than compare myself to what everyone else is showing. even if it isn’t fully visible yet, i know it’s there. i know it’s coming. and tbh that’s what makes the process so rewarding. although there will be a time where i want to test my discipline and get really lean i know it’s not sustainable for me to stay that way, however i never thought i would be able to build this much muscle and look leaner than i am and have so much strength at the same time while being healthy and having my hormones in check one other thing ill mention, don’t be fooled by people and the things in this world that give you the fastest results as possible, because i promise you it’ll have such a boomerang effect. have patience, stop comparing, and appreciate every phase in your journey. social media can be harsh but at the end of the day you choose what you let affect you.
