A better approach would be to regulate with compassion: create structured vendor zones, affordable licensing, and basic facilities. That way, cities stay organized while livelihoods are protected. Real progress is when development includes everyone, not when it excludes the most vulnerable.

In November, we rescued a pregnant ex-bucking mare. Her name is Libby. She was ran through the loose sale portion of the auction, extremely heavy bred, and exactly the kind of horse that disappears and is meant too, in the pipeline. The reality is most people don’t step in for these horses. Not because they don’t matter, but because they can be hard to handle. They aren’t halter trained. They require proper fencing, experience, and a level of commitment most people aren’t set up for. We put her on our list anyway. We brought her home and turned her out into our baby paddock, knowing we were taking on more than just one life. Yesterday, we lost Mamba. Today… Libby gave us something we all desperately needed. She had her baby. A little boy. Healthy and strong. We named him Grayson. This is the reality of what this work looks like. It is loss and it is life, sometimes within 24 hours of each other. Grayson is here because Libby made it out ❤️ And Libby made it out because YOU stepped in. And what’s more, … Teddy’s baby was also born at the same time! Part 2 to come next :)
