My ford explorer is currently in the shop because water pump…. Wanted to pass out when my mechanic told me it’s going to be $5,000 🤮. Only have had the car 9 months.

I had a 2000 Ford ranger with the 3 l V6 and the water pump cracked while I was driving home from work and all the coolant started spilling into the crank case by the time I got home the radiator was empty. I didn't realize it while I was driving home until the temperature gauge went all the way to the top. I quickly shut the vehicle down and let it cool and then when I realized that the radiator was empty I checked the dipstick and saw that the coolant had mixed with the oil in the crankcase. had to pull the engine apart and replace the head gasket as well as the water pump and I had to Mill the heads because they were slightly warped. anyway almost $1,500 later in my own work and parts I was able to get the engine back together and running perfectly. I was very lucky! but what a pain in the next situation that was.

My 2008 tundra I had the starter under the intake and now I see all the sensors they put on the sensors and all the stuff we don’t need and now you’re telling me the water pump is behind the time and chain with the timing chain cover
