In a phenomenon known as intrauterine cannibalism (specifically adelphophagy, or eating one's brother), the first embryo to hatch in each of the mother’s two uteri begins a lethal hunting spree. Equipped with sharp teeth and functional eyes at just 10 cm long, this dominant hatchling consumes all its smaller siblings and any unfertilized eggs.
