@joujoutravels: If you want a Kyoto sunset view without the crowds, go here. K36 is one of the only spots where you can see the iconic Yasaka Pagoda clearly without fighting through people. I went right before sunset and just sat there watching the sky change over the city. You don’t need a reservation, but go a bit early to get a good spot.
