Had 5 interviews. After interview 3 I figured I didn't want the job anyway but I still went to the interviews. Got offered the job and a day before I was meant to sign the contract I sent them a rejection email saying they had been unsuccessful. They were well pissed.

Energy Transfer / Sunoco in Dallas, TX does this very thing. I interviewed with them 4 times combined. I told them about volunteer appreciation month and they said they had no idea. I get a rejection letter and next thing you know they post about volunteer appreciation month.
