@debrachosen: Introducing The Art of The Interview ✨ In this series, I’ll be unpacking the moments that make or break a conversation. Now, this particular moment between Tonya Mosley and Delroy Lindo is a masterclass in the art of the reframe. And a reminder that sometimes pushback isn’t a signal to move on, but an opportunity to lean in and approach the question from a different perspective. Let me know which interview moment you’d like me to break down next! #artoftheinterview #interviewskills #greatconversations #storytellingmatters #contentcreatorsuk

Beautiful. He noticed in THAT moment she wasn’t intending to poke - but understand.

Very interesting approach. She turned something which could have been perceived as messy to something more personal and progressive

her follow-up was not manipulation it was *clarification*. it wasn't "how can I trick you into talking about this?", it was "just so we're clear: this is where my line of questioning was going".

He doesn’t say much, but he probably says a little bit more than he would have to anyone else. It’s like negotiating - it’s not about getting the price you want, it’s about getting to the lowest price the other person will give you.

Everyone in the comments saying she should have respected the boundary don't realise the boundary is generic; for the average person who has not earned a right to his private thoughts because in his eyes most people asking are not sincere. By asking a further question she proved she has the depth to hold his thoughts on the matter more than most others. He could have declined just like he did before, and he would have if he'd wanted to.

Journalists have a job to do. Of course they need to respect the person on the other side, but they also need to try. She tried with respect and class and she got the answer. Very well done ✨

yes!! I also notice she doesn't directly ask him a question, she says I wonder... making the implied question less forceful

Not only that, but it was actually the first time I’ve heard the incident framed in an interesting way. Quality question for a quality answer.
