@nursemidwifeg: Thick yellow or green discharge usually means bacterial infection. Your vaginal environment which is normally slightly acidic and self protecting has been overwhelmed by harmful bacteria. What causes it: - Unprotected sex with an infected partner - Untreated BV that has progressed - STIs: gonorrhea and trichomoniasis both cause this - Pelvic inflammatory disease in some cases What it feels like: — Thick discharge that is clearly not your normal — Unusual strong smell — Sometimes itching or burning — Sometimes pelvic discomfort What to do: - See a doctor or clinic - Get tested. Do not self diagnose this one - Complete any antibiotic course fully - Inform sexual partners if an STI is confirmed - Do NOT douche, it makes everything worse What NOT to do: - Ignore it hoping it goes away - Cover it with scented products - Self treat without a diagnosis The most important thing: Green or thick yellow discharge is not a reflection of your hygiene or your worth. It is information. And information is power. Get tested. Get treated. Move forward. Save and sh@re this with your friends Foll@w me for more Have ever been too embarrassed to go to the doctor about this. #health #women #WomenHealthMatters #womenshealth #goviral
