@galekatie: Before my asthmatic son had rib retractions, we notice wheezing, shortness of breath, a small, short cough, and belly breathing. You can see his belly is pulling inward, right under the diaphragm. This means he is experiencing an increase of work in his body, due to his airways being restricted. The body compensates by pulling skin in further than it should. I’m just a mom who works in the medical field, but I am not a doctor. My daughter was diagnosed with "RAD" when she was two. We had many sleepless nights, days/nights in the ER. I pray your baby gets better soon. My daughter will soon be 10yo, and has finally grown out of it. It is a parents worst nightmare. Sending prayers for everyone ❤️
