@povscience: 15 pendulums. No motors. No computers. No coordination between them. Each one is just a weight on a string, pulled back and released at the same moment. The only difference is the length of each string. That's it. That's the whole setup. And yet, within seconds, they start forming waves. Spirals. Arcs that sweep left and right like something is conducting them. The pattern builds, collapses, rebuilds into something different. Then, after exactly one minute, every pendulum returns to where it started — and the whole thing repeats. This is called a pendulum wave. And it works because of one of the most fundamental rules in physics: the period of a pendulum — the time it takes to complete one full swing — depends only on its length. Not its weight. Not how hard you pushed it. Just the length. So if you carefully choose 15 different lengths, you can guarantee that in 60 seconds, the first pendulum completes 51 cycles, the second completes 50, the third completes 49 — all the way down. Each one slightly out of step with the one before it. The patterns you're seeing aren't programmed. They're a side effect of that spacing. The pendulums aren't talking to each other. They never were. They're just doing exactly what physics says they'll do, and the interference between their cycles looks like choreography. This is what mathematics looks like when it runs unsupervised. The universe doesn't produce beauty on purpose. It produces rules. The beauty is just what happens when you pay attention. #physics #Science #pendulum #viral #fyp
