I saw the two comments about him saving the universe every Friday and about other finality followers not having independent thinking and it got me wondering so I came up with a theory. They don’t want him to lose independent thinking because then he would fully follow the finality and would lead the universe to its end until fuli steps in. His independent thinking drives him to want to find the best possible solution (like amphoreous if we didn’t go) and in penacony with us losing our memories and saving firefly in the end) or I could be slow either works

I believe the IPC knows that 1. Elio is incredibly useful because of his ability and skill to save the universe countless times, 2. He needs independent thought to come up with a solution to the futures he sees, and 3. The Stellaron Hunters would be even worse problems than they are now if Elio was either killed or made incapable of independent thought.
