radical honesty doesn't mean saying it in the most blunt and hurtful way possible. it's establishing yourself as someone who genuinely cares, can be trusted, and always has their best interest in mind. people tend to get that mixed up with brutal cold honesty and then wonder why the friendship doesn't work out.

Yessss….I’ve made MORE friends as an adult by being honest/authentic than I ever could have by hiding who I am or how I feel. You’ll make more diverse friends with different opinions this way, as well. We can all teach each other something.

This is so true. I've had a best friend for 44 years and the reason we are still friends is because she never has to wonder with me. I don't lie to her she doesn't lie to me and we figure it out.

everyone saying it’s about trust and being authentic but i also think it’s about solving issues before they become big. if you are able to be honest about what is bothering you early it allows for resolution. when you pretend everything is fine it leads to resentment as they repeat the behavior because they don’t know it bothers you.
