Just saw the movie hours ago and i reallyyyy enjoyed it. I saw myself as Charlie lmao, emotionally. I personally loved how he had to forcefully take the training wheels off of how he navigates his feelings. I hate how Emma was treated. The movie definitely emphasized the downfall of analysis paralysis

I should have taken notes because I loved it so much. I agree with you that the actions within the couples were super valid. The ending really sealed it all for me that she really made the changes that she needed to make in her life and wasn't the young girl who had those terrible thoughts.
I might have to go see it again but there's so many good movies out right now.

This movie was really good! I do feel like it will have everyone thinking this over as time goes on because it is true. Just how many people have these thoughts, but never acted upon them? For whatever reason and either continue life as usual or, in Emma's case, really got to reflect and made a change for the better overall

Initially reaction after finishing was “that’s it?“ not really sure what I expected from this movie but it definitely wasn’t that. I do agree with automatically defending Emma’s character since she didn’t go with it but then I had to realize how I would feel if I was with someone who said the same thing. I did notice Charlie going back to different times in their relationship to Spence’s that made Emma’s confession make sense, ie: her slapping him during making love, and her screaming to the car who almost hit them. You can see him rethinking who he think she is to what she might actually be. It just proves you never really know your partner or people in general. Overall I did enjoy the movie I’d say I’ll give it a 7.5 out of 10.

i’m using this movie for an article and i think the underlying message is the “thought crimes” idea the fact that we can’t distinguished real harm from imagined harm easily. of course it’s true that the thought itself is violent but thoughts don’t hurt anyone actions do. The harm is only felt after she acts on it. Which she did not. I don’t think it’s about rationalizing actions bc the action did not take place it’s more what society does to people who think outside of cultural norms. No one is advocating for gun violence they are making you aware of what is called “thought action fusion” we assume that having immoral thoughts are inherently immoral actions but they aren’t. Everyone is entitled to their thoughts read 1984 this is literally thought police. If we start telling people what they can and cannot think we’ll create more m*rders not less.

I’m only out the cinema 45 minutes and Rachel was a BITCH bro. Like in the scene when they’re saying their worst things they’ve ever done I found it to be that Mark (I think that’s his name I can’t remember correct me if I’m wrong) Rachel and Charlie’s worst things all ended up hurting people [Human shield, cyberbullying] and her straight up locking her mentally impaired young neighbour in a RV cupboard was worse physically than Emma’s. Obviously don’t get me wrong, Emma’s worst thing was awful but did it really hurt anyone in the long run like Rachel’s? Then she also used her cousins trauma against Emma like what. Emma was the most empathetic one out of them all especially in the end (starting over) and personally she deserved better. The movie was actually really good!
