21 and I once had to write lines for gossiping in elementary school. Wrote one “I will not gossip” and then every other line was ditto marks. My teacher thought it was funny and she let me get away with it just because I was 8 and knew what ditto marks were

As a millennial, I use them all the time, but never knew they were called ditto marks. I never knew they had a name. At some point, my brain started saying “carry down” when doing it so that’s what I’ve “called” them. 😂
