Her grip on the rice paddle tightened slightly. “Yes.” “Okay,” he said. “I’ll stop.” He didn’t. Instead, his lips brushed just below her ear, slow and gentle, like he was savoring the moment more than teasing her. Y/n let out a shaky breath. “You’re the worst.” “And yet,” he whispered, smiling against her skin, “you’re not pushing me away.” She turned her head slightly, just enough to glance at him. “Because I’m busy.” “Liar.” For a moment, they just stayed like that—her in front of the counter, him wrapped around her, the world outside fading into something distant and unimportant. Then she sighed, giving in just a little, leaning back into him. “Fine,” she mumbled. “Just… stay still.” Jake chuckled softly. “I thought I was distracting you.” “You are,” she admitted. “But… I don’t mind.” That was enough to make him pause.
