Only way diesel makes economic sense at current fuel prices is if you tow heavy constantly. If not there is NO way it makes sense. I own both for that reason. My 24 gas 6.6 averages 11.7-12 my 2015 Duramax averages about 14-14.5 between oil changes. My local fuel prices the gas HD runs $0.28/mi diesel is $0.33/mi and that doesn’t include additives/DEF. The new 6.6 gas is rated to tow 26K GCWR. No reason to own modern diesel unless you tow constantly or just want the convenience of easy towing with the diesel. And don’t come at me with the “I get 25 mpg Highway”. Get a car. They are meant to tow and hail things. If I only ran my 6.6 gas on the highway it would probably get 18-20.

I sell trailers and pick a lot of them up so 50% pulling. Ran a new 6.4 Hemi back to back with a 6.7 Cummins. Kept mileage on an app. Both 13.5 but the Hemi was so much more fun to drive they really scoot.

Well, I don’t worry about the cost of diesel but my 2019 Duramax gets 20-22 on the freeway not towing. It gets 9-11 towing my 38’ camper

My 6.6 diesel has 470HP and 975 torque gets up to 24mpg not towing anything. Run a test towing something and compare them.

Probably cause diesel trucks are so heavily regulated. Delete them. Tune them, watch your world change
