@travis.woo.trades: I made a lot of money this past year, and I still drive an old Toyota Corolla. That’s not me trying to be humble. That’s just how I think. I’ve never trusted the flashy version of wealth. The fancy car doesn’t impress me nearly as much as real optionality, low stress, and knowing my family is covered no matter what happens. That’s the goal. I’d rather put money into assets, systems, and things that can grow than into liabilities that mostly signal status to strangers. To me, the real flex is security. Freedom. Margin. Choices. Peace of mind. That’s why I actually respect the quiet kind of wealth more. The kind that doesn’t need to prove itself every five seconds. I like money. I just don’t need it to look loud. What do you think? Am I wrong? #money #wealth #mindset #finance #investing

Old cars make you pay the mechanic constantly. And they overcharge

Balance is better I think- you don’t need the newest or best- but equally why drive something that you don’t enjoy just to die with more money in the account

I drive a 2003 Toyota Avalon I got on marketplace for $2000. I’ve had a few side eyes and lols from other parents and coworkers when I arrive in my BEAST. Imagine the source of your self esteem being a car… Or measuring another persons worth based on the car they drive! They don’t know I own a million dollar house outright and could stop working now at age 42 if I wanted to. My friend who has a law degree, a PhD and is a university lecturer drives a 2007 Yaris and we were only talking a couple of weeks ago about how having a crap car feels like a weird social experiment sometimes.

Cars allways cost money. Old car has a lot of maintnance. Middle old car has some maintance. New car cost a lot of money. A car is just a bad investment.

A Corolla is one of the most reliable cars you can have my parents had one for like 20 years not even joking and to fix them parts are always cheap. Also the smarted drs I’ve worked with say Subaru, Toyota and now Hyundai and Kia as they have come up in quality while still maintaining on lower end of prices

Yep! I don’t see the point in buying new cars. They depreciate in value too fast. The Toyota you have will most likely simply keep going and going. 😉

Hope you give back to society in other ways too? You are actually giving back by these contents but another one will be actually helping a young man in your neighborhood financially too. Thank you.

This is no longer true in Australia where most mechanics change ridiculously high prices to fix cars. Easier to buy a new car under warranty every few years actually saves a lot and reliability is important for piece of mind
