To add, I don’t expect the influencers i follow to have a stance on every single issue. Ex I know your political stance, you’re black 1st, and a Black TransWoman immediately after! If you had a $50K offer along with a 1st class trip sponsored by Starbucks I’m not going to flood your comments with hate, disappointment, sellout etc when you’ve made it clear your priority is The Black/Trans/ LGBTQ community 1st and may not even know or have researched the Palestine issue.. If I knew you IRL I’d be helping you pick out fits and washing your wigs that sustain the heat 😆😆 I will never hold the people I follow to a standard that’s out of my own reach.

I truly think that people have turned influences into their own Sims characters. You can’t shelf people in real life. It’s easy on the internet but these people don’t stop existing and experiencing because you stop playing with them. The same can be said for these corporations.

I'm an organizer in Orlando and we talk all the time about how much of the tourism industry is supported by immigrants (with varying status) and how harmful it would be to them if tourists stopped coming here, but also tourist dollars protect both the wealthy company execs AND politicians from having to address the policies. There's so much nuance in any system this complex and insidious that the average person doesn't realize or does realize but just doesn't want to engage with it. It has always been hard for those who have a strong ethic surrounding their values and to be guided by that in all areas of their life, but it's especially challenging in the last 10 years

I totally agree. I’ve been saying people will deconstruct from religion, systems, etc. without leaving the dogmatic thinking behind. Everyone gets to choose what their line is for what they will/wont support. The approach does not always need to be a public takedown.
