I’m injured and out of running for 6-8 weeks. I’ve got two sprained ligaments in my ankle and these are some of the ways I am helping them heal: 1. REST- rest is best and that is why I’m not running. They need time! 2. Strength training and physio exercises- strengthening the rest of my legs, building up the muscles around the joints in order to take pressure off the lil ligaments will not only help them heal but protect them in the future when I’m back up and running 3. Collagen- your ligaments are made of collagen! There is scientific literature to support that collagen dosing throughout the day and overall increase in collagen availability will help ligaments heal. So I’m taking my usual collagen supplements morning and night and also adding in additional collagen after strength training and physio work in my smoothies 4. Support- I am wearing an ankle support when I am cross training and when I will be on my feet walking about for a long period of time 5. Treatment- I’m lucky to see a very good osteo who is helping me on my comeback- and sticking needles in my ankle every few weeks! 6. Foam roll and massage gun in my calfs- increasing blood flow and loosening off my calfs (especially after my physio work which is targeted at getting them SUPER strong) will also help my little ankle! 7. Eating well- bodies need energy to heal! Just because you’re running less doesn’t mean you should restrict your intake #runner #injuredrunner #runningrecovery #marathontraining #marathon
