as soon as I started the video and saw the strapping with shims I was like yup doing this when needed

Better to stud out a new wall. Strapping and shimming is junk material especially for wet area. Second wall sound won’t travel through and better r value and easier to run plumbing/electrical etc.

it's hard to get nails and some screws in some of those old two by fours from the 1800's lol I lived in a old house one time. remodeling it was a pain. and sanding all the trim to get the wave out of it from the wavy old wall..lots of fun.
