this is such a diverse topic 😭😭😭 i just need to make a decision. usually i wouldn’t but it seems like its been struggling and it’s looks like the soil is way too dense and way too wet. but im super ocd and i tend to go through the roots too throughly getting all the rot and gross-ness off and idk if it’s because i end up taking too long and the roots being exposed the whole time or just shock of me messing with the roots but they keep just going further downhill so im like what shiuld i doooo

Yes, often the pot size is way too big for the plant.

I use the same soil chunky soil mix in all my monsteras. I just got clearance Green Galaxy and Cobra monsteras. They came in self watering pots. Would you I use this soil for the new ones, remove from self watering and add moss pole?

I have control issues, I need to know what those roots look like. I've also gotten plants that developed root rot too fast to not have started at the store so I've also got trust issues.

I may not get to it the same day unless it's severely overwatered or some other very obvious issue, but I try to repot within a week.

I had this same discussion last week- whether big box of online plant nursery delivery/purchase. For me, it depends on the overall health/look of the plant; is it root bound; is the soil already a chunky mix. If those scenarios return negative responses, I tend to repot into a clear plastic pot using my own mix. I know the plant community has different answers on this but I follow my instincts given what is in front of me.

I always wait a week to let the plants get used to the new environment and then repot it. It's extremely important especially with plants like crotons that are senstivie to moving places
