Ice cold take girl- we need to know a lot and if you don’t cut it then you don’t. Becoming a nurse isn’t supposed to be easy- the dosage calc tho… those are not meant to trick you.

Prob unpopular opinion, but I agree 100%. Being able to perform basic dosage is for patient safety

I think she is definitely talking about Vitals, why would she not say med math? We had a vitals check off in lab AND a med math test but they were both in month one. I dont know how either of these were month 13 which is the month she was in.

It’s SO DOABLE!! I do understand the anxiety some people may get with it being timed, because it happened to me once, BUT there may be times you have to calculate a dose in an emergency and you have to learn to overcome that anxiety!! PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!!

dosage calc was so hard for me 😭 I needed a lot of tutoring and eventually got it . For me I hadn’t taken math in school in a long time but once I got the hang of it I was able to pass 💖

We had an actual exam where we had to physically show we could take a manual blood pressure, pulse, and count respirations. You had to be within 2 on everything of the proctor or you failed

I'm pretty sure it was check offs. We did check offs for vitals within 2 months of nursing school.

I had to do dosage calculations to a pediatric patient by hand! I had to have another person sign off on my math. Epic updated the day before and had a glitch.

I used to be a NICU nurse and even though the computer would do all the math for us, we were still required to get co-signs with nearly all medications we give to ensure the dose was correct. It’s still VERY important to know how to do dosage calculations!

I agree, it's not meant to be easy, nursing isn't easy. You have to have the ability to learn, adapt, and grow.

You gotta call her out ⚯͛ :
I think only like 5 students in my program (we had 115, larger than normal for reasons) failed the med math exam and got kicked out and we only got two attempts.
