Ondo City (Ondo Kingdom) was founded around 1510–1516 by Princess Pupupu, a daughter of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Oluaso. She left the Oyo palace with a royal entourage following the taboo birth of twins and settled at Oke Agunla, becoming the first female monarch with the title Osemawe of Ondo.

BIGLEO :
The Igbo language was not created by a single person, but rather evolved from the Niger-Congo language family, with its roots traced to around the 10th century AD in the Kingdom of Nri. However, modern written (literary) Igbo was standardized in the 19th and 20th centuries by figures like Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther (first primer), Simon Jonas, and linguist F.C. Ogbalu. The language developed over centuries, with the Kingdom of Nri considered the cradle of its culture and scholarly development.
First Written Igbo (1857): Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther, a Yoruba-born Anglican missionary, authored the first Igbo primer, Isoama-Ibo: A Primer, along with missionary efforts and the help of a young Igbo native, Simon Jonas.
My bad. I meant to say Ekiti when I mentioned Otun. Otun is in today's Ekiti State. ✌️

This video is for educational and discussion purposes only.
I’ve taken time to speak with historians from different tribes, and this particular episode focuses on the Benin (Edo) perspective.
Other episodes featuring Yoruba and Igbo historians will also be shared.
The goal is not to divide or misinform, but to learn, understand different viewpoints, and encourage healthy conversations about our history.

I'm from Ondo state...Akotogbo in Irele local government area. Akotogbo is divided into two parts. Oke Ikale and Oke Ado. The Ado migrated from Benin...apart from Ikale as a language, my father and those older than him speaks Benin fluently. Sometimes, my father and his brothers communicate in Benin when they don't want to understand what is being discussed.

I dont think „Ajayi crowther named igbo“ crowther, wrote in the mid 1800s, on the contrary, olaudah equiano, mentioned igbo in his 1789 book.

Ondo (in today’s Nigeria) traces its origin to the Ondo Kingdom, which is a Yoruba kingdom. According to Yoruba oral tradition, the town of Ondo was founded around the 15th–16th century by a princess named Oluaso’s daughter (often called Pupupu) after she left Ile-Ife. It is strongly tied to Yoruba migration history from Ile-Ife.
