I’m the same age as you! No credit card debt but student loans and it’s the interest that sucks. Also had a layoff and being in our 20s in post grad everything social is expensive it’s just though. Thank you being open about it because I’m sure so many people our age had the same experience as you! Proud of you for clearing it!

I would also advise, if you can’t get approved for another cc or a high enough balance transfer limit, call the cc company and ask for a financial hardship program. idk what the parameters were but i made under 50k and didn’t need to give them too much formal reasoning. i was in the amex financial hardship program for a year that was around only 7% interest and $140 monthly payment. after that ended, i couldn’t re-enroll, but they were able to put my account on a payback plan, which just means the card is frozen and cannot be used and only has a 10% interest rate. every company is different, but at the very least there should be short term financial hardship programs they can offer to lower interest rate!

I know people get into trouble and that's what's nice about credit cards in a pinch but like damn, if you can't pay off your credit card in full every month, you have to re-evaluate what living beyond your means is

I agree it’s common, but these days people don’t like generalizations being made or being lumped in together a group they don’t feel a part of. Unfortunately if creators (or commenters, honestly) want to avoid arguments, they have to speak only about their own experience or another specific person. 😄 Saying “I went into debt” is just different from “most people go into debt”, even if both are technically true!!
