Lately, I’ve had people in multiple areas of my life ask me to use my professional abilities for them without paying me. And I think healing work gets especially blurry here. When intuition, psychic ability, coaching, somatics, or energy work comes naturally to someone, it can look effortless. But “this comes naturally to you” is not the same as “this costs you nothing to provide.” When you ask me to read your energy, answer a psychic question, clear your energy, remove attachments, coach you, or use my expertise to help you, you’re asking me to turn my attention, training, abilities, and energy toward you. That is work. I give plenty away freely. But I get to decide what I give away. And I want to say something to the people who pay me: I see you. I value your investment enough to protect what you invested in: intentional access to my energy, expertise, attention, and abilities. When you book a reading, hire me as your coach, or join one of my programs, you are not paying for something I’m quietly handing out for free in my DMs. You’re entering an intentional exchange with me. And that exchange matters. This work requires participation from both of us to co-create an experience. I bring my attention, expertise, energy, and presence. You bring your investment, commitment, and willingness to participate. To my fellow healers, especially those of us who are empaths: generosity does not require unlimited access to you. Being able to feel someone’s need does not make you responsible for meeting it. You can feel their disappointment when you say no and still let the answer be no. And to anyone hoping proximity or a “quick question” will turn into free individualized work? With love, you’re barking up the wrong tree. I value my energy and bandwidth too much. And there are plenty of ways to access my work for free. My posts, podcast, and Lives are some of the ways I intentionally offer my work to the community for free. Being of service doesn’t mean being available for extraction.
